6 Yard Skip Hire in Doncaster

The heavy waste skip. Six yards is the largest size that can usually be filled to the top with dense material and still be lifted legally, which makes it the default for rubble.

When this is the right size

If your waste is soil, hardcore, broken concrete, tile or brick, this is almost certainly the size you want. The maths is about weight rather than space: a 6 yard filled level with dense material is close to the limit a lorry can lift, so anything bigger would only be part-filled anyway.

It also suits a single-room renovation where you are taking out plaster, tile and flooring, and it is a common pick for a small extension or a patio being lifted.

When to pick something else

For bulky but light waste, this size runs out of room long before it runs out of weight. Furniture, packaging, timber and general house clearance material all want an 8 yard or larger, where you are paying for volume you can actually use.

Where it stands. On your own driveway or private land, no permit is needed. On a public road, pavement or verge it needs one from Doncaster Council, which you apply for. We will tell you exactly what to ask for and what it involves. The permits page explains the process and timings.
