When this is the right size
Loft conversions, single-storey extensions and larger commercial clear outs all fit this size well. The waste from that kind of work is mixed and bulky: timber offcuts, plasterboard, insulation, packaging and general strip-out material.
It earns its keep on jobs running over several weeks, where you want one skip standing throughout rather than repeated deliveries.
When to pick something else
Access is the constraint, not the price. This needs a proper hardstanding and clear space for the lorry. It is also the wrong tool for anything dense, and if you are producing this much waste regularly rather than once, roll-on roll-off will work out cheaper per tonne.
Where it stands. On your own driveway or private land, no permit is needed. On a public road, pavement or verge it needs one from Doncaster Council, which you apply for. We will tell you exactly what to ask for and what it involves. The permits page explains the process and timings.
