Do I need a permit for my skip?
Only if the skip is going on a public road, pavement or verge. On your own driveway or private land, no permit is needed. Permits for on-road skips come from Doncaster Council. See our permits page for full details.
What size skip do I need?
It depends far more on what the waste is than on how big the room is. Rough guide: 2 yard for a cupboard or shed, 4 yard for garden clearances, 6 yard for anything heavy like soil and rubble, 8 yard for a kitchen or bathroom strip-out, 10 and above for bulky light waste such as furniture and packaging. Ring 01302 490 249 and describe the pile. We would rather size it correctly than sell you a bigger one.
What can I put in the skip?
Most household, garden and construction waste is fine. Some items are banned and need separate disposal. See our what can go in a skip page for the full list, or call us if you are unsure about a specific item.
How long can I keep the skip?
As long as the job takes, within reason. We agree a rough collection date at booking, and if the work runs over you ring us and we move it. There is no fixed period you are paying for whether you use it or not.
Can the skip be overfilled?
No, and this is the one we cannot bend on. A skip heaped above the top rail cannot be sheeted, and an unsheeted load is not legal on the road. If we arrive to an overfilled skip we cannot lift it until the excess comes off. If you are torn between two sizes, take the bigger one.
