Skip Capacity at a Glance
The easiest way to picture a skip size is in bin bags. As an approximate guide:
- 2 yard skip: around 20 to 25 bin bags
- 4 yard skip: around 35 to 45 bin bags
- 6 yard skip: around 55 to 65 bin bags
- 8 yard skip: around 70 to 80 bin bags
- 10 yard skip: around 80 to 100 bin bags
- 12 yard skip: around 100 to 120 bin bags
- 14 yard skip: around 120 to 140 bin bags
- 16 yard skip: around 140 to 160 bin bags
These figures are approximate and depend on how the skip is loaded.
How Much Space Does a Skip Need?
You need room for the skip itself plus clear access for our lorry to lower it into place and collect it. A firm, level surface is best. If space or access is tight, a smaller skip may suit better. Placing a skip on your driveway also avoids the need for a permit.
Length, Width and Height
Every skip has a length, width and height, and these increase with the yardage. Larger skips tend to be longer and taller rather than simply wider. If you have a specific gap, gateway or parking bay to fit the skip into, tell us the measurements and we will confirm which sizes will fit.
Standard Skips and Roll On/Roll Off
Our standard skips run from 2 to 16 yard. For much larger volumes, Roll On/Roll Off skips are longer, open containers that need more room and firm, level ground. Compare every option on our skip sizes page.
