Do I Need a Permit?
On private land: no permit needed.
If the skip sits entirely on your driveway, garden or other private land, there is nothing to apply for and nothing to pay. This is the simplest route and it is worth measuring the drive before assuming it will not fit.
On a public road: permit required.
The moment any part of the skip overhangs a public road, pavement or grass verge, Doncaster Council needs to have issued a permit before it is set down. Half on and half off still counts as on.

Who Arranges the Permit?
The permit is applied for by you, the customer, not by us. We will tell you exactly what to ask the council for and make sure you have the details you need, but the application and the fee sit with the person hiring the skip.
How Long Does It Take?
Turnaround is set by the council and moves about depending on how busy they are, so this is the part worth starting early. Ring us before you apply and we will tell you what the current wait looks like, so you are not left with a permit that arrives after the job finishes.
Permit Costs
The fee is the council's, not ours, and it is separate from what you pay for the skip. We will tell you the current figure when you book so there is no surprise, but the payment goes to Doncaster Council directly.
Placement Tips
- A driveway placement avoids the permit process entirely, if you have the space.
- Keep the skip clear of junctions, dropped kerbs and access points.
- Skips on the road may need safety lights and cones, which we will advise on when you book.
